Purpose
For more than 15 years CrossRoads Church has partnered with International Needs Uganda to tackle the root issues of material poverty in the East African nation. Over the past six years this has been through the long-term sustainable development of Buikwe Senior Secondary School. This school was established to provide improved access to quality secondary (Grade 7-12) education for orphaned and vulnerable children in rural areas of Uganda. While the root causes of material poverty are complex, meeting the need is simple. A long-term sustainable strategy for alleviating material poverty must start with meeting the basic needs of those most affected—children. By ensuring that as many children as possible are provided with an education the symptoms of material poverty are reduced or removed for long-term as the cycles that allowed it in the first place are broken. Through this partnership and our hands-on participation not only are children given the tools they need to thrive and change what once was inevitable, but whole communities are embracing the hope for a brighter tomorrow and stepping into a new chapter for their families and their nation.
